Two piece back in highly figured maple of medium flame. Front  of selected spruce of narrow even grain. Side ribs, neck  and scroll of matching maple. Hand-finished antiqued spirit varnish. With Chevalet’s Despiau (A Grade)  bridge, ebony fingerboard and nut. Also with Rosewood Swiss Model pegs with Parisian eye, tailpiece with Parisian eye and chinrest. Back Length: 356mm

The “Cecil” Stradivari 1724-2024 has been described as being amongst the most important violins ever created. Made exactly 300 years ago in Antonio Stradivari’s workshop in the Piazza San Domenico, Cremona. The violin is owned and played by the former violinist and author Desmond Cecil.

To mark  the tercentenary celebrations of this instrument, The Sound Post Ltd, has commissioned the well-known violin maker Xueping Hu, of Beijing, to make a Single Limited Edition of ten replica copies. This instrument is no 4 of this Edition.
