Antique English silver-mounted Viola bow. Circa 1876-1896.  Branded ‘Jas.Tubbs’. Weight 62 gms.

Very strong and flexile pernambuco round stick. Rounded ebony frog. With pearl eye and plain silver button. Whalebone lapping and original silver tip. Some old restoration to head. Existing  written independent valuation available.

James Tubbs is one of the most celebrated English bow makers. Together with his son Alfred, he produced more than 5,000 bows.
