Violin with two-piece back with a golden brown oil varnish. Ebony chin rest and tailpiece and rosewood pegs end pin. James Priddey was was an English painter, printmaker, and  illustrator. He was born in Handsworth, Birmingham in 1916. He studied at Moseley School of Arts and Crafts, and at Birmingham College of Art between 1931-35. He was the president of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, between 1974-1978. He lived and worked in Harborne, Birmingham and died in 1980.
