CS8/ 83i English ‘Lachinel’ Anglo-Concertina

This concertina is labelled 'Lachenal and Co. Patent Concertinas Manufacturer, London' It also has a button label reading ‘Howards, 2&4 Swan St. MANCHESTER’ Concertinas of a new ‘mass produced’ model, manufactured in Chiswick, London, for C. Wheatstone & Co. by Louis Lachenal, started to be sold in, or shortly after, April 1848. Louis Lachenal died in 1861, after which his wife, Elizabeth, ran the business until 1874, when she sold it to some of the men who worked for the business. It is believed that Howards' was at 2 & 4, Swan Street through the 1890's and into the early 1900s.
