Modern Making: An Instrument Maker Profile: Kevin Basle

We are very excited to have a new violin made by our member of staff, Kevin Basle, which is a copy of Stradivari's famous Hellier model (The original resides the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford). The violin  follows the original style of the master, with mother of pearl inlays between double purfling, and engraved rib and peg-box decoration that is filled with black mastic. It is beautifully varnished in a deep red/brown high gloss oil varnish.

It has been made meticulously over the past 11 months, and labelled "Fait Main, K. S. Basle, Luthier a Birmingham, 2017" , and is now available for trial in our shop.                          £5,200.00

PREMIER SELECT: "Quality Beyond Price”

We are continuing to develop our own brand of instruments at Moseley Violins.

We have a range of suppliers who regularly visit us with limited series quality new instruments for us to select. We hand-pick the best they have to offer based on sound and quality of making.  We then set them up in our workshop to play to their best . Each instrument, therefore, is individual and bears our own label as a statement of our belief that the quality of the instrument provides excellent value for money. The instruments compare favourably in sound with antique instruments at the same price.
