| BOW RE-HAIRING | |
|
Bow hair is an organic material and wears out with continued use. If your
sound is whistling or squeaking, it is time for the
bow to be re-haired.
BOW CARE TIPS: Avoid touching the hair with your fingers ,and always remember to release the tension after use . |

| EXTREME TEMPERATURES | |
|
While we may remember not to leave our instruments in hot cars during the summer months, instruments can be also be damaged if they are exposed to very cold temperatures, which can cause fractures or seams to unglue. REMEDY Avoid low temperatures but if exposed, allow the temperature of the instrument to stabilise at normal room temperature before playing it by leaving it in the room with the cased closed 20-30 minutes . Central heating can also be responsible for instrument drying out in winter months. A good way of avoiding this is to invest in a humidifier which cost around £ 5-£10 depending whether they are for violin, cello or double bass. |
